One of the most notable pieces of political news from last week was the defection of Conservative MP Natalia Elphicke to the Labour Party. Given that those two Parties present themselves as the antithesis of each other, this was initially a shock to many. There were even a few (quickly suppressed) voices in the Labour Party who were aghast at how quickly a through-and-through Tory was permitted into the Party.
This turn of events ultimately is another demonstration of something which we have been saying for a long time: That the Old Parties of Westminster are like gangs in a crime cartel, and have no realistic difference between each other.
One of my Party colleagues discussed with me about how, since the 1980s, all Westminster politics has gone through the prism of neo-liberal capitalism, and thus the distinction between Labour and the Conservatives (the two posing arch enemies of the Commons) virtually disappeared. Now, in the 2020s, save for one or two policies, there is quite literally no difference between the two Parties. The campaign for the London Mayoral election, in which the Conservatives principle campaign point was simply, 'Get Khan Out', is another perfect example. Labour and the Conservatives, at this point, push for exactly the same policies with exactly the same outcomes.
To change from Conservatives to Labour, or vice versa, is as simple as changing one colour tie out for another.
What this all proves is just how irredeemable the Westminster Cartel actually is. There is more difference between them and their own countrymen than there is between them and each other. And they have no hesitation changing like the wind in order to aggrandise each other, and will only ever co-operate when it is to damage or destroy anyone or anything which exists outside of the Cartel.
The solution to all this is radical and permanent political Reform. As much as our Party is a Party, we also seek to become the Party to end all Parties. The gang-like behaviour of the Old Politicians corrupts everything it touches, and the Party seeks to bring an end to it all, to replace it with a system of democratic government which derives its legitmacy directly from the voter by way of referenda and plebiscites.
Let the chains of the Westminster Criminals, shatter.
