Former SNP chief executive Peter Murrell, husband to former first minister of Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon, was taken into police custody this past week and charged with embezzlement by after questioning from Police Scotland.

 

He had been previously arrested on April 5th 2023, but on that occasion released without charge. This is after police Scotland had launched an official investigation into the SNPs finances in July 2021, after questions were raised as to what had happened to almost £660,000 in donations for a fresh independence campaign - by no means “chump change”.

 

However, he was not alone when under investigation last year, as then treasurer for the SNP -Colin Beattie - was arrested on 18th April 2023 and then recently resigned Ms Sturgeon was arrested on the 11th of June 2023, although both were at the time released without charge.

 

But more importantly, why does this matter?

 

Nicola Sturgeon and her fellow party members in the SNP have rattled on for more years than I can remember about Scottish independence, about gaining freedom from the untrustworthy grubby pawed regime, who cared not for the people of Scotland and wanted nothing more than to milk us like a bunch of prize Coos. Yet here we are in 2024, the promise of a second independence referendum never materialised, and it’s not just Ms Sturgeon’s former party, but her current husband who stands accused of shamelessly milking the people of Scotland. 

 

Not for the first time, and probably not for the last time the SNP have proven themselves to be every single bit as slimy and corrupt as their counterparts in Westminster, and astonishingly even more incompetent. Surely now the people of Scotland have seen through their lies, corruption, and dishonesty to realise the future of Scotland should never be again trusted to these charlatans who claim to be nationalists, but are nationalists only in the sense of not wanting to share the fruits of the Scottish people’s labour with England and keep it for their own personal selves.

 

It’s time to stop blaming England for Scottish problems, to stop trusting career politicians whether or not they have a Glaswegian accent or an English accent as neither have the best interests of the Scottish nor British people at heart. Our best hope as a nation is for a Great National Rebirth and a party who wants to restore our British way of life, not just milk us dry and feed us lie after lie.
