At our inaugural Leeds Branch meeting on August 17th, as well as discussing political direction and growth strategies, we have devised three projects that the Branch will work on going forward in addition to political campaigning:

1) Immediate Support to those in Poverty in Leeds City Centre. Our Branch Leader has liaised with local charity and outreach teams including soup kitchens, the intent being that we can get manpower to assist  with immediate help to the disadvantaged in liaison with these providers. We are therefore looking for people willing to provide a couple of hours of their time to help do this.

2) Investigative work (including making a documentary) into the issue of Prostitution and Drugs in Holbeck, with a view to finding ways of helping those trapped in these circumstances to improve their situation. Holbeck, much like Harehills, is an area of extreme deprivation where many people find themselves with few opportunities in life, and by directly engaging with the local population and mustering resources, we can work to provide people those opportunities they need. Once we have identified a practical way of helping, we will call for manpower to help implement it.

3) The creation of a Fresh Food Bank and Distribution Service to struggling working-age families. We have people on board who can provide fresh produce (as opposed to cans and processed food) for regular distribution at low cost, and we will work with local contacts to identify the people most in need. More information to follow on this shortly, as there will be fundraising (which the Party will assist with) and requirement for manpower involved.

These are three constructive projects that the Party will be engaging in around Leeds, in order to put into practice our principles of a National Community.
