One of the central news points this week is the discussion of plans to re-introduce national (military) service. Realistically, it is unlikely that the party propagating for it is going to be in a position, post-election, to actually implement it. This said, I have been advocating for conscription for all young men since even before I spent my own time in the British Army (2015-21), and I will continue to do so to the point where mandatory military service for young men is, and will continue to be, one of the National Rebirth Party’s Twenty Demands.

As a precursor to creating a national community, the entire concept of individualism (which goes hand in hand with liberalism) must be eliminated. It is impossible to create any kind of cohesive society whilst we tolerate the existence of this idea that one single individual is somehow worth just as much as the entire group as a whole. From my own experiences, as well as the experiences of others, the military environment is the best environment in which to eliminate this mentality. In a militarised society, the group is always greater than the individual, and collective goals are always more important than individual ones. Add to that the values of discipline, resilience and not just physical but moral courage that such an environment demands of you. Within a few short years of young men being conscripted, liberal and individualistic attitudes would vanish in that same generation. People who continued to propagate such socially destructive ideas as those would, quite rightly, find themselves isolated and shunned, just as any selfish person in a group environment does.

This is one of the major reasons why the full advancement of liberal ideology could not occur until the 1980s, when the last men of the Second World War and the last National Servicemen were losing their political influence.

Beyond its ability to change the mentality of our society for the better, military conscription is also vital for the independence and security of the state. The lack of any independent military power in Great Britain is directly linked to the wider demilitarisation of society, and the only way to remedy this is through military mobilisation of the population. It puts our country and people in a position where they are not dependent on any foreign power for military strength or for their own survival, and dependence is ultimately a form of slavery.

For these reasons, I would see any implementation of conscription by the Old Parties of the establishment as a horrific own goal, and the enemy is not to be interrupted when making a mistake. Within a few years an entire generation of young men would recognise the inherent value of collective identity and disciplined behaviour, and within a few years the ranks of nationalist politics would start to fill very quickly.
